GREAT SITE!!!

I remember seeing the Coonhound Cemetary in the movie Sweet Home Alabama and have always wanted to go there...If anything happens to my Dual CH Female (NITECH CH `PR` Clary's Lazy Daisy) I plan on having her buried in Coonhound Cemetary...She is my sweet girl, and has been my baby ever since I got her

Just came back from Alabama from attending a cousin's daughter's wedding and visiting relatives, some of whom had lived in Cherokee. At the rehearsal dinner, one of them mentioned the Coon Dog Cemetery. It became my mission to see it. In looking back through my pictures, I took more of the Coon Dog Cemetery than the wedding or my relatives. For a hound lover, it was definitely worth the trip!

We are coming through Tuscumbia on our way to Monte Sano in September, and this is on my list of places to stop.
A lost dog is nothing to snub your nose at. Losing a pet you love hurts, and I think it is wonderful that there is a place like this to pay tribute to those pets!

I've had good to great hounds over the years and some could not be bought at any price and some were given away.

Hi my name is Cody and I am 9 years old. I have been coon huntin ever since i was 3 years old .I have my own coon dog named night train . I really enjoyed the web site . Hope to see it soon.

My stepfather used to hunt Redbone and Black and Tan coon dogs in Rockingham, NC. He had a great Redbone named "Red". He was great!
I just moved to AL 2 years ago and last week my sister and my 2 nieces came to visit from NC. I had seen on a map the location of the cemetery and just had to see it. We were over whelmed by the love these hunters had for there companions. I remember when "Red" died that my stepfather cried and cried! I don't remember where he buried him.

We come to Alabama to visit my husband's family when we can. We usually stay in our family's cabin really close to the cemetary. Josh took me to see it, knowing i grew up with Coonhounds and love dogs in general. I thought it was sweet and sad, but very touching and very beautiful! That's the best place for a loyal coondog's soul to rest!

I have only seen the cemetery once when I was driving by, but I would like to see it one day. There ain't nothin better than a good coondog.

my grandpa and i buried a good coondog here probly when i was 8 or 9 years old her name was queeny she was a coon treeing machine im 25 years old now my grand pa has died and ive been to the cemeterry 3 or 4 times but i cant seem to find her grave stone i live in tuscumbia if anyone can locate it before i do send me a email please grandpas name james edward archer

this is a great site. my family lives in southern tenn and i hope to get to this cemetary the next time i visit.

Hi, This is a great site, I just buried
my redbone that was 14 yrs old. He was a grandson on Hunters Famos Amos. I got the chance to meet and hunt with Mr.Max Hunter and his grandson Noah in VA.I have had dogs all my life as pets, but a coon dog is much different than a pet since you spend so much time in the woods with them. Coon hunters and the dogs they hunt have a special bond that pet dog owners do not have.

Looks like a nice place to lay a hound to rest ..

My wife & I visited the cemetery yesterday while we were in Red Bay. It is a bit out of the way but well worth the time and effort. Keep up the good work.

enjoyed your site. brought back a lot. memories of some fine old hounds , and houndsmen. my frend kirtlink would like this. he has hounds buried all over his farm. rabbit hunt all day, coon hunt all nite,sleep when you dead.. jd...thanks

I stumbled on this site looking for info about Blueticks just found 2 lil boys yesterday along the side of the road someone just threw'em out in a box they are barley maybe 6 wks old the person that done this needs to be done that way himself. We named then second and chance "Second Chance" will hang on there pin. they are wonderfukl looking dogs second is a born hunter can see it in hhim where ever he goes his nose is on the ground they also like the night lol now chance is a lil scared but he seem to be coming out of it I feel so bad for them poor lil guys I love your site and maybe on day you will see a stone that reads "Second-Chance".

What a great tribute. I would have never known this existed if www.BoundaryWatersRadio.com didn't mention it. My walker coonhound, Mable, doesn't run coon(none up this far), but does a great job at protecting the livestock we have and our son.

If I would have seen this 4 years ago,My little lady would have been put to rest there.She was killed in 2004 from a blast of a coon.She would have been 6 years old on May 5 2006.her last kill record at time of death was 521 coon in 4.5 years of treeing the masked bandit

i think this a great thing for all coonhunters to check into and i hope to one day visit
