Found this site after watching the movie Sweet Home Alabama had a scene in this cemetery and I was curious if the cemetery really existed. Would love to visit it sometime. Great tribute to man's best friend.

We visited this cemetery in August of this year and was very impressed the way it was layed out. The area was very peaceful. Brought back memories of early childhood.

I just found this in an article called The 5 Most Beautiful Pet Cemeteries. Some of the cemeteries. Out of the 5 mentioned, as beautiful as they all were, not one of them came even close to how beautiful the coon dog cemetery is. Just reading the story and looking at the pictures, you can literally feel the sadness, the joy, the pride, and the love that lie in that cemetery. Very touching. Is there any chance that there might be more knives for sale in the future?

Found this site through a Facebook post from Bradley Ramsey. It is good to see men that love their dogs pay tribute to them through a proper burial. It's been said that you only get one good dog in a lifetime. If that's the case, then it stands to reason you would treat their death as important as their life.

I grew up in Hackleburg, AL and the home page says it all. Hearing a hound on a coon gives you chill bumps to say the least.

Ive been wanting to come here, I know its a beautiful thing that only a hunter can realize the bond between them & their dog. I have walkers n bloodhounds, though they r hell hounds when they r puppies I wouldnt trade them.

What a wonderful tribute to Troop! I'm lucky enough to have been the human loved by five wonderful Black & Tans and one special Redbone/Black & Tan mix. They were all truly amazing hounds. I look forward to visiting this special place soon. May all coonhounds be as loved as mine and Troop were.

Read the article in Daily Telegraph, linked into your web site - a wonderful tribute to some faithful dogs. I have never seen a Coon dog, but realise they are faithful hunters with their masters, the bond true and lasting.
Key Underwoods love for his faithful pal obviously inspired others to honour their hounds - Well Done.

Driving home from seeing Jason Isbell play at the Shoals theater in Florence, Al I saw a sign that said Coon Dog Cemetery Having had a Bluetick named Beulah in my life for 10 years this caught my attention and I took the road indicated by the sign. It was quite a bit further than anticipated but was a lovely drive. The site is a location that I think any coon dog would find ideal, heaven for them. Wish I had known of this when Beulah passed a couple of years ago. Rest in peace old friends.

From Rockford, IL. Visiting family in Bear Creek, AL. On way back from taking dogs to vet in Florence, AL for Lymes booster. Knew about Cemetary. Decided to stop. Drove up and down main road and around countryside back to highway. Finally stopped at gas station for directions. Directions were kind of incorrect, but we but we FINALLY got there - in the dark. My Walmart flashlight was dead, my lantern was back at the house. All I had was a regular flashlight. Not the greatest source of light. VERY interesting. Graves seemed to all have plastic flowers - a big variety. Two outhouses and a picnic shelter with tables. Graves on a hill which is greatly invaded by trees roots. Most interesting thing of all was the fact that most headstones have coins on them. Pennies, dimes and nickels; singularly or in various combinations. I would LOVE to know the meaning of that! Definitely needs better signage including miles until turn and from that turn onto COONDOG ROAD to Cemetary. Warning: COONDOG ROAD is a treacherous road with short winding hilly curves and cliffs two feet from edge of road. It was fun. Just wish I had my lantern instead of small flashlight. We plan to go back in day time at some point in time.

I don't own any coon hounds but know some who have. Who can remember the movie "Where the Red Fern Grows"?... Tt has to touch your heart if you've that special bond with man's best friend. I have had a few of them... Mine are Staffordshire Terriers and that bond can't be broken... I do believe that God in His infinite wisdom will allow us to be joined together again at that Rainbow Bridge.
Beautiful...
