Read about The Coon Dog Cemetery in the short "Cold-Nosed and Cold-Hearted" by Jean Rabe and found in a book of Ghost Stories called Familiar Spirits edited by D.J. Bingle. Visited your website and viewed the videos and pictures. I hope to visit there ASAP. What a wonderful tribute to these wonderful creatures and to the relationships with their companions. May the Lord bless you and all.

I was travelling down to Memphis for a music festival over the weekend and had the joy to see this amazing place, such respect and honor for those faithful animals, I have to say it was a very nice site to view.

I have had black and tan coonhounds since 1994--- Lucy, Eunice, Melody (all at the Rainbow Bridge) and currently
Truvy, Annelle, Tony, Curtis and Victor (all 10, 9 and 8yrs. old.)

There is a privilege in owning such a mighty breed....and I thank God every single day for the privilege!

What a beautiful resting place you have in Cherokee, Alabama.

I am sure every coonhound owner shares the same sentiment.
Amen and Release the Hounds!

Today I visited the Coon Dog Cemetery. While I have never owned a coon dog, I have owned dogs that were extremely dear to me. What they say about a dog being man's best friend, is so true. Losing a dog is like losing a family member. It is touching to see this cemetery and tribute to such dedicated dogs.

This cemetery is a beautiful tribute to the dogs so loved by their owners. I am a singer/songwriter originally from Alabama, but now live in NC and have written a song about the Coon Dog Graveyard honoring the late greats buried there and mentioning many of their names. I'd love to plan a tour down that way that coincides with the Labor Day celebration and share some music with you all. I think many would appreciate the song as a tribute to their long lost friends.

I went to the Cemetery yesterday as I was traveling from Pickwick Lake back to Atlanta. I followed two biker couples in and almost turned around twice before finally arriving. They were so nice and from Georgia, as well. I loved the place. The flowers on every grave made these graves more well-cared for than most people cemeteries. I grew up in Mississippi and my daddy and brother never hunted coons. They did hunt squirrel and just about everything else. I do know of the historic love and affection owners feel for hunting dogs and coon dogs, in particular. This was well worth the long, long drive into the Alabama backwoods to get there! I am going back if I ever pass through that part of Alabama again.

I have three redbones and a black and tan currently. I soooo love what this cemetery symbolizes, and write profusely about my dogs learning to hunt, and enriching my life. I MUST visit!

My wife, 8 year old son and I visited Coon Dog Cemetery last Saturday. What a charming and respectful site for beloved coon dogs now past. My son requested we return in a few years, and hopes we will not find too many new inhabitants. Wonderful visit!

I visited the cemetery on September 15, 2015. It was a long way away from western Canada, but very worth the trip. While visiting, I met some very lovely Alabama ladies, and one of them had all kinds on newspaper clippings about the cemetery to share. The interaction with these ladies made my trip! The cemetery was wonderful and well taken care of. Lots of loved pets. I'm very glad I went, and had been anticipating this trip since I rescued my Black and Tan 8 years ago. Thanks for the memories!

I had heard of the cemetery some months back. While in the area for a seminar I saw a sign, and after 18 miles, found it! It is a lovely, poignant setting with an aura of peace and love. An early fall breeze was ruffling the treetops and I felt I could almost hear the baying of the hounds. I think I would prefer to be buried in the companionship of these hounds than in the company of my human counterparts. I hope to visit again.

Looking forward to visiting when we see relatives in Alabama. Our rescue black and tan has changed our lives and we love him. Our neighbors are not all so happy, but his baying is music to our ears.

A tradition of loved ones will not be forgotten and to bring good luck to the coin tosser like tossing a coin in a wishing well.

My uncle, Edsel Thompson, raised coon dogs and had a beagle name Shorty that won a state competition 40+ years ago (picture on the front page of Montgomery paper). I bet Edsel knew about this place. This is definitely going on my bucket list.

I seen this coon dog cematary back in 2009. It was scary on the road there. But I loved it and took asome pics. Our dogs and other animals are so special and seeing this just made this more so. i don't have a coon dog but 2 French BullDogs and with MS and now home more than ever I trully dread the day they are gone.
